The Başkent OSB Technical Sciences Vocational School was established on February 15, 2017, with the proposal of the Rectorate of Hacettepe University and the approval of the Council of Higher Education. Considering the qualifications and quantity of the existing faculty members, it was deemed appropriate to open the Computer Programming, Mapping and Cadastre, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology, and Construction Technology Programs starting from the 2017-2018 academic year and to admit students to these programs. From the 2018-2019 academic year, the Mechanical Engineering Program was introduced, and from the 2020-2021 academic year, the Welding Technology Program began to admit students.
One of the key requirements for sustainable development today is having a sufficient number of qualified human resources. The vocational school aims to contribute to the development of qualified human resources equipped with the knowledge and skills required by the region and our country’s industries. The building of the school was constructed with the leadership of the Ankara Başkent Organized Industrial Zone administration, with the participation of companies operating within the region, and the furnishings were also completed.
The three-story school building, located within a 15-acre plot designated for educational and social facilities in the zoning plan of the Başkent Organized Industrial Zone, has a closed area of 11,000 m². Designed to accommodate at least 1,000 students in line with its founding purpose, the building includes 20 classrooms, one 200-person multi-purpose conference hall, six workshops, 12 practical classrooms, 30 administrative offices, a library, a 300-person dining hall, a 150-person cafeteria, and an indoor sports hall.
