History

Başkent OSB Vocational School of Technical Sciences was established on February 15, 2017, with the proposal of the Rectorate of Hacettepe University and the approval of the Higher Education General Assembly. Considering the qualifications and number of existing academic staff, the opening of the Computer Programming, Surveying and Cadastre, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology, and Construction Technology programs was deemed appropriate, and student admissions began in the 2017-2018 academic year. Additionally, the Machine Program was introduced in the 2018-2019 academic year, followed by the Welding Technology Program in the 2020-2021 academic year.

One of the fundamental requirements of sustainable development today is having a sufficient number of highly qualified professionals. Aiming to contribute to the training of skilled professionals equipped with the knowledge and competencies required by regional and national industries, the vocational school building was constructed under the leadership of the Ankara Başkent Organized Industrial Zone administration, with the participation of companies operating within the region. The furnishing of the building was also completed accordingly.

Located within a 15-acre plot designated for educational and social facilities in the implementation zoning plan of the Başkent Organized Industrial Zone, the three-story school building has a total indoor area of 11,000 m². Designed in line with its founding purpose, the building has the capacity to accommodate at least 1,000 students. It includes 20 classrooms, a 200-seat multipurpose conference hall, six workshops, 12 applied laboratories, 30 administrative offices, a library, a 300-seat dining hall, a 150-seat cafeteria, and an indoor sports hall.
