MACHINE PROGRAM

General Information About the Program

The Machine Program within the Department of Machine and Metal Technologies at Hacettepe University Başkent OSB Vocational School of Technical Sciences was established by the decision of the Hacettepe University Senate dated 03.01.2018 and numbered 2018-2. Our program, which operates as a full-time first education program, provides an associate degree education for two years, consisting of four semesters. Graduates who successfully complete their education are awarded an "Associate Degree in Machine" and the title of "Technician."

Graduates of the Machine Program remain in high demand as Machine Technicians due to the manufacturing sector’s growing significance and the crucial role of CNC machines and CAD-CAM software in modern manufacturing. They are highly employable in various fields within the industry, including lathe and milling operations, CNC operation, CAD-CAM operation, technical drawing, quality control, heat treatment, control and automation, as well as technical service and promotion. Additionally, graduates who acquire sufficient knowledge and experience can establish their own businesses with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Upon completing the Machine Program, students who succeed in the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM can pursue further studies in the following faculties: Industrial Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, Marine Engine Operations Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Agricultural Machinery and Technologies Engineering.

WELDING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

This program trains intermediate personnel capable of performing technical operations on metal-containing materials. Graduates can work as technicians in public or private sector iron, steel, aluminum, and casting factories, as well as workshops.

Program Objective

The objective of the Welding Technology Program is to train professionals capable of performing all types of welding operations within the welded manufacturing and repair sectors of the industry.

Core Courses

The Welding Technology Program includes courses such as mathematics, welding technology, welding machine fundamentals, strength of materials, measurement and control techniques, and welding construction techniques.

Required Qualifications

Prospective students interested in the Welding Technology Program should have a strong interest in physics, possess mechanical aptitude and good hand-eye coordination, and demonstrate physical endurance.

Title and Professional Responsibilities of Graduates

Graduates of the Welding Technology Program are awarded the title of "Welding Technician." Welding technicians are responsible for designing and executing welded structures in industrial production. Their duties include selecting materials and methods for welding, conducting quality control, and managing welding workshops and manufacturing facilities.

Employment Opportunities

Welding technicians can work as both producers and managers in the metal industry.
