The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Refrigeration Technology Program, within the Department of Electrical and Energy Engineering at Hacettepe University Başkent OSB Vocational School of Technical Sciences, was established in 2017. This is a two-year associate degree program consisting of four semesters, offering both theoretical and practical courses.
Approximately 25% of the curriculum consists of elective courses. The majority of both compulsory and elective professional courses are conducted in workshops and computer-based environments. Additionally, the program benefits from certification training support provided by various companies within the industry, while also organizing technical field trips and seminars. The program is equipped with one computer laboratory, one HVAC and refrigeration workshop, and one HVAC and refrigeration laboratory. A total of three faculty members actively contribute to the program.
The objectives of the HVAC and Refrigeration Technology Program include providing industry-oriented education in the principles, concepts, and applications related to HVAC and refrigeration systems. The program aims to train technical personnel capable of installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems, diagnosing malfunctions and their causes, and implementing corrective measures. Additionally, graduates are expected to prioritize safe and efficient work practices, uphold ethical values, adapt to teamwork environments, collaborate with professionals from various disciplines, and remain open to continuous professional development.
Graduates of the program can pursue careers in industrial facilities operating in the HVAC and refrigeration sector, service companies, system design and project development firms, and product marketing enterprises, as well as in public institutions and organizations. Furthermore, due to the broad scope of the program, graduates have the opportunity to be employed in various technical positions within the energy sector.
